At Thousand Oaks Estate Planning, we realize every client’s situation is unique and we carefully tailor every estate plan to meet our clients’ goals.
We invest the time necessary to get to know you, your legal and financial desires as well as your family dynamics to design a plan that fulfills your specific goals.
Our estate planning services include, but are not limited to, the following areas.
Wills, Trusts and Related Documents
We prepare individually tailored estate planning documents including:
Revocable Living Trusts
We design living trusts for individuals and couples, specializing in those with blended families or recently divorced. We provide funding instructions so that clients can properly re-title their assets and move them into their trust. We prepare deeds and related documents to transfer clients’ real property interests into the trust. We will also work with a clients’ bank or financial institution to ensure any accounts are property retitled. In addition, we prepare assignments of personal property and digital property transferring these assets to their trust. We also prepare pet trusts upon request.
We prepare traditional wills as well as pour-over wills, which are designed to work in conjunction with a trust. We also prepare wills with guardianship provisions for our clients with minor children. In addition your will may contain your wishes regarding burial or cremation instructions. Be aware, however, that having a will alone does not avoid the time and cost of probate. A will should be used as part of a comprehensive estate plan to meet your unique needs and goals. For those clients with a small estate, a will can still be used in addition to other means to avoid probate.
Durable Power of Attorney for finances
We prepare a durable power of attorney designating the individual or individuals whom you want to manage your financial affairs should you become disabled or incapacitated.
Advanced Health Care Directive
We prepare advanced health care directives designating the individual or individuals whom you want to make health care decisions on your behalf and specifically setting forth your wishes regarding health care, life support, organ donation and other important considerations.
Additional estate planning services
We will also review your existing estate plan and prepare amendments or restatements as needed.
